Tonight, Thursday December 10, even with the global pandemic, Geoff Keighley will still hold the annual Game Awards. And it should be a very fun stream to watch for the competition between some console generation-defining games and the awards they will snag. But of course, more important is the news, trailers and reveals. And it is officially confirmed that the next character for “Super Smash bros. Ultimate” is getting revealed tonight. As a fan of the game’s dedication to letting us fight as a huge array of characters across game franchises and even consoles, I have faith and excitement for the next reveal. Following Steve from “Minecraft,” the suggestion of an Xbox character is certainly more and more likely. And I have to wonder what PlayStation may want in too. Regardless of any failures to predict who is next for “Super Smash Bros.” in the past, here are some more characters I want.Crash Bandicoot
Let’s start off swinging with a guy I think would be absolutely perfect for the series. As a platforming legend, Crash bandicoot has always sat well alongside Nintendo’s other games of the genre. I thought it was a brilliant fit to see “Crash Bandicoot: The N. Sane Trilogy” hit the Switch” and it is awesome to know the Bandicoot is back. I loved this year’s sequel and I think it seems safe to say that Crash will be relevant this generation. Nintendo throwing Crash into Smash seems like a match made in heaven. With his fruits to throw, spinning and belly flop actions, the masks and charm and personality, Crash is legitimately the one character I feel is most fit for “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'' over the rest.Spyro
From one PlayStation colassic to the next, Spyro seems like he deserves more attention now that the original trilogy came back. And I have good faith in that too. I would argue that Spyro is almost as close to Crash in the likelihood, or at the very least, plausibility, of being in Smash. Sakurai introducing us to Spyro would be an awesome matchup or the roster. This dragon once more feels at home with Nintendo’s cast. Spyro’s flight, fire-breathing and unique actions as seen in the series would fit well for a “Super Smash Bros.” moveset. I feel like everyone would love to see this delightful dragon fight it up with the likes of Mario, Sonic, Kirby, Donkey Kong and so fourth. Maybe we can even see him and Crash one day.Doom Marine
The Doom Marine, Doom Slayer or Doomguy, whichever you wish to call him, is one of the most badass gaming characters. He may be quiet and covered up but his slaying of demons with awesome guns makes “Doom” that much fun. So I think that we need someone like this to add to “Super Smash Bros.” It would be someone that adds tons of intense action and thrill. With others like the “Star Fox” cast, Samus and Snake, I think another gun-using fighter would be a lot of fun. This is especially true since the “Doom” games bring about some crazy guns like the immensely powerful shotguns and the BFG of course. I always thought Doom Marine would be awesome for Smash since I first played “Doom” on the Switch a few years ago and realized that Nintendo this generation is not the old Nintendo. So let’s bring on this beast from one of the coolest shooters ever made.Sora
Sora has been one of the most talked about requests for new characters in Smash. I have always thought he’d be a beautiful fit for the series. Fighting right alongside Cloud, two representatives of this nature would be awesome. Sora comes packed with tons of unique moves and the Keyblade. The latter is an amazing weapon for melee combat in Smash. I think it is a no-brainer that they could give different Keybalders for him too and create a fun character. And then the amount of magic spells and use of characters like Goofy and Donald on his side, Sora would be awesome. I know everybody wants this “Kingdom Hearts” protagonist to truly belong in “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” and I’d be hyped if that was revealed tonight.Ratchet & Clank
I mean yeah, there's probably no chance of a PlayStation character making it into Smash. But why can’t I dream anyways? I think that Ratchet would be a fantastic addition to the fighter. This is a character that could have comfortably been leading a Nintendo series all along. I think that Insomniac’s lovable duo of Ratchet and Clank are some of the most suitable characters in gaming for “Super Smash Bros.” Consider how many crazy weapons they use. Ratchet is always boasting quite the arsenal. Insomniac has prioritized having fun with creative guns and grenades of all sorts. This is a character ready to fight his way into “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.” I have no faith in this possibility but hey, I still think it’d be awesome!Okay, there you have it. Those are five characters I want in “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.” At the time of writing, we are just hours away from the Game Awards. I am looking forward to seeing new announcements for games as well as more information on games we haven’t heard much of. And of course the conformation of the next “Super Smash bros.” fighter is definitely exciting. What do you guys think? Which characters from which franchises do you most want Nintendo and Sakurai to add to their ultimate fighting game extravaganza? Share with me all your thoughts
