Top Games Nintendo Should Bring to the Switch

Happy birthday Nintendo Switch! The home console-handheld hybrid turns three today and with that, I knew I needed to talk about the Switch in some capacity.

Originally, a list of my favorite Switch titles was on my mind, but then I quickly realized how mine wouldn’t be very special compared to all of the other lists. I too love my Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros Ultimate as much as the next guy.

Then I realized I have been meaning to write something about Nintendo ports I want. Sure, plenty of third party games could make up their own list, and perhaps I will do that soon. This list however will strictly stick to games from Nintendo platforms.

In honor of the third birthday of the Nintendo Switch, a console that gets games on a daily basis from all consoles across all years, I am going to shame it for not having these awesome games.

Just kidding of course; I adore the Switch and greatly respect Nintendo’s efforts over the last few years. This is just a fun dream list of a few Nintendo games or games from their consoles that I would absolutely love to revisit on my Switch in the coming years.

What Nintendo Really Needs to do to the Switch in its Updates

Nintendo released its system update 7.0.0 for the Switch yesterday. It gave users access to a few new icons from “New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe” and Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese language options. And that is about it, save for a few general improvements in the system’s stability. Nearly two years into the console’s lifetime, the Switch hasn’t quite gotten the improvements, namely in the interface, that it should, or at the very least could. Here are those I think Nintendo needs to implement this year.

“Super Mario Odyssey” is a masterclass in platforming, level design and pure smiles per minute it brings with every charming moment after another.

Right from the start, “Super Mario Odyssey” genuinely impressed me for a bevy of reasons. Whether it is the level design that boasts so much love and appreciation for the age-old franchise, the unforgettable music, unique worlds or near-perfect 3D platforming, “Super Mario Odyssey” proves Nintendo and the Mario name still stand among the very best gaming has ever offered. To top it it all off, it released well before the Nintendo Switch even hit its first year on the mark

“Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” comes packed with fun game modes, vehicle parts to unlock, scores to beat and an overall delightful experience, given a new breath of life on the Switch.

Having missed out on the Wii-U altogether, I knew I wanted “Mario Kart 8’s” updated version for my new Switch and fortunately this purchase was entirely justified. “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” includes a bevy of courses to choose from, an online mode, the ability to play with friends in a split second and more, all making it the complete package.
